MIGRANT MONEY MATTERS

“Perth has an array of affordable services – a number of them free – to support women in various personal situation – financial abusive relationships, drowning in debt, mentally & physically unwell – that many people are not aware off. No matter what their circumstances may be, I want all women to know that they are never alone.”

The Migrant Money Matters program supports attendees by providing:

  • Free childcare
  • Interpreters
  • An accessible location
  • Local relevance

Launched in 2018 using grant funding from the Layne Beachley Foundation, 'Aim for the Stars' program. The program has received support from organisations like City of Canning, City of Belmont, The AMP Foundation and additional funding from ygap First Gens Program.

With her knowledge and commitment, Grace Mugabe knew that she could empower migrant women by:

  • Creating positive change amongst women from a CaLD background
  • Imparting financial education to  migrant women
  • Providing complimentary resources and education that supports financial literacy
  • Removing barrier to accessing financial literacy resources

The motivation behind Migrant Money Matters is to be the catalyst for migrants to:

  • Connect with services that would support them
  • Being able to understand exactly how they could improve their financial literacy
  • Provide with valuable knowledge and a larger support network 
  • Become the inspiring role model for her family and relatives
